The 5th annual Guangzhou Terry Fox Run, a charity event to raise money for cancer research, will start run in Luhu Golf Club Driving Range at 8:30 am on November 24th.
The Terry Fox Run was initiated by a Canadian who lost one of his legs due to bone cancer, and then proceeded to prove to everyone that it couldn't stop him running all the way across Canada on an artificial leg.
Since 2003, the Terry Fox Run has been held annually in Guangzhou, attracting more and more participants each year. All money raised locally goes to the Guangzhou Charity Hospital for medical research. In 2006, the run, including subsidiary runs in Shenzhen and Zengcheng, had 5,500 participants and earned 470,000 yuan.
The program is organized by Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou, Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Guangdong Charity Federation, Guangzhou People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
