A proposal on acceleration of Guangdong's modern information service industry won Governor Huang Huahua and other officials' nod yesterday (Sep 17).
The officials also set a target for the development of the industry: by 2010, the industry shall yield an annual value added of 167.5 billion RMB and 5 percent of the province's GDP. That means the industry need to expand at a speed of 17 percent annually. In the coming 3 years, the province plans to build more than 10 modern information service industrial park and support 20 local leading information service enterprises to sharpen their competitiveness. By 2010, three information service industry clusters will take shape, including1. Pearl River Delta with Guangzhou and Shenzhen as the leading cities2. East Guangdong with Shantou as the leading city3. West Guangdong with Zhanjiang as the leading city.
By 2015, the industry is expected to become one of the province's pillar industries.
The provincial government will input 200 million RMB every year from 2008 to 2010 and issue preferential taxation and corporate financing policies to support the industry.聽聽
