"The stamps are going to be the name card of our city, so they need to represent both the typical Guangdong culture and diversified Asian Culture." 聽Xu Ruisheng, vice mayor of Guangzhou, said in the Guangzhou Asian Games Stamps Element Selection Seminar held yesterday.
The options for displaying local culture include the historical sites, such as Chen's Clan, Sun Yat-sen Hall and Tomb of King Nanyue, the traditional arts, such as Yue Opera, and the traditional events, such as Spring Festival Flower Market and Dragon Boat, as well as Guangzhou local residents' favorite daily activity - morning tea (having dimsum as breakfast).
The primary plan for Guangzhou Asian Games stamps is to issue two sets in 2009 and 2010 respectively, one with the theme of combination of culture and sports, the other with the theme of diversified culture display.
