This year, 351 Guangdong handicapped students sit for the national college enrollment exams, and 66 got offers from universities for bachelor courses. So far, the handicapped students who met the enrollment score requirements had so far all got offers.

However, a recent survey shows that most of Guangdong disables do not have much schooling. On average every 5 families have a disable. Only 1 percent of the local disables have college degree, 18 percent graduated from secondary schooling, 38 percent have primary school education and 42 percent have never received any schooling.

The province has 401,700 disables aging from 0 - 14 years, 7.44 percent of the local disables. Among the 243,000 children aged from 7-14, over 40 percent are illiterate.
