Manchester United midfielder Lee Martin put the finishing touches on a 3-0 victory over Guangdong Pharmaceutical last Friday night when he slammed a centerfield mid-air kick through Guangdong鈥檚 defenses. The shutout match at Huangpu Olympic Stadium was the last stop of Manchester鈥檚 Asian Tour.
Local football fans thronged the stadium to see Manchester United鈥檚 star-studded cast of players including Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand and Cristiano Ronaldo who played the final 12 minutes in a seeming cameo appearance for the roaring crowd.
The 68 members of Manchester United also participated in a series of public activities such as tutored young footballers and met a group of Chinese AIDS-affected children, which deeply impressed local fans.
