Huangpu Egg is a popular dish in South China’s Guangdong. It looks like a yellow cloth, which invented by fishmen in Huangpu, one of the origins of Ancient Maritime Silk Road. Due to its appearance like a yellow cloth, it is also called Huang Bu (yellow cloth) egg. The interesting thing is - Huangpu and Huang Bu have the same pronunciation in Cantonese - Wong4 Bou3.
Once upon a time, Huangpu was a beach where gather a lot of fishmen. One day evening, a person visited his fishman friend without any notification，therefore, this fishman can only use an egg to serve the guest, since he didn’t have enough time to buy foods. Due to impatient, the egg was cooked neither like sliding egg nor fried egg. However, the guest gave highly praise on the egg after he tasted it.
After other chefs' improvement, this egg dish has been becoming one of the famous dishes in Guangdong area. It is said that former president of Replica of China - Chang Kai-Shek (蒋介石) really like this dish.
