自唐朝以来,煎堆就开始流行于全国各地大部分地区。广东人一般都会在临近春节的时候制作煎堆,因为在广东的风俗中,煎堆越大,来年的收入就会越多。

There is a beautiful story behind the sesame ball - Nuwa, the goddess mending the sky. It is said that Nuwa, the goddess in Chinese mythology, mended the sky, while produced animals and human being in the first seven days, which made her felt so tire that she fell asleep in the 19th days. The construction of mending the sky had not finished yet, but people did not want to wake Nuwa up. Therefore, they cooked the sesame ball and put them on the roof with red string for making up the sky temporarily.

关于煎堆的由来,有一个非常美丽的传说—女娲补天。在中国神话中,女娲在头七天中一边补天,一边造人和动物,这种高强度的工作终于使她在第十九天的时候陷入了深深的睡眠当中。人们不忍心叫醒女娲,但是补天的工作还没有完成。因此,每个家庭都制作了圆圆的煎堆,放在屋顶上,把天暂时补上。
