Recently, the issue of weather pollution caused great public concern in China. People fear for the haze which may damage their health.
The PM 2.5 particles endanger human’s health the most during hazy weather. These particles travel into your respiratory tract or even pulmonary alveoli by avoiding the tackle of nasal cavity and throat. Furthermore, the tiny particles could absorb dozens of harmful substances which could lead acute or chronic injuries when they enter into the respiratory tract. The adverse effects include upper respiratory infection, pneumonia, asthma and cardiovascular diseases while long-term harm includes trachitis and lung cancer.
How to protect yourself in the hazy days? Doctor Ou Junwen, chief doctor of nutritional department of Clifford Hospital, says that besides going outdoors less, we can reduce adverse effects of haze by choosing right foods.
Here is the list of lung-clearing and health-promoting foods recommended by Dr. Ou.
