Aaron McKenzie, the owner of Social&Co Bar&Kitchen, has spent the past 15 years traveling and working around the world, planning to open his own restaurant. Having worked in various industries like hospitality, tourism, design and construction, he is now instilling his own vision into Social&Co.
Guangzhou, an adventure for restaurant
Like the American dream in 18th century, China now has become a dreamland for people around the world. Aaron had never been to China before he opened a restaurant in Guangzhou. To him, coming to Guangzhou was more like an adventure.
“Before I came to China, I had a very good job, good house, great life. Then a good friend of mine from Guangzhou said to me, while we were having breakfast, would I like to open a restaurant in Guangzhou. At that time I didn’t know where Guangzhou is. But I said, sure, why not”
However, for adventure, courage is not the only thing you need, but also a formed vision.
"I had a concept in my head if what I wanted to, I knew what types of food I wanted to serve, what type of atmosphere I wanted for the younger generation, travelers and also expats."
