Disney Stars Exhibitions at Taikoo Hui
Mickey and his friends wearing Chinese traditional clothes have arrived in Guangzhou. The cartoon figures greet you with different modeling in the past 60 years – varying from the gongfu master, to Beijing Opera performers and Cantonese Opera actors. It will end on March 8, 2015.
Paper cutting of Sheep at Teemall
A Chinese paper cutting exhibition at Teemall displays the contemporary crossover of Spring Festival folk culture and Western pop art. The show runs from January 31 through March 5.
Handmade paintings of Cantonese life at Happy Valley
A number of hand-made drafts of the book describing the Cantonese life are on display in the Happy Valley, most of which are about the traditions and local scenes of Guangzhou. The exhibitions on the second and third floor will be on until March 5. Additionally, a "flower fair" and bazaar will be held at its north and east squares and atrium on February 13 and 14. Calligraphy, a puppy show, mask making, grass technique, paper cutting and a music show will all be there to add the festivities.
Hello Kitty 40th Anniversary Exhibition at Grandview Plaza
The exhibition is to showcase the classic images of Hello Kitty in the past since 1974. The exhibits include dolls, stationary, mobile accessories, bags and electronic appliances. The prices of entrance are RMB 88 at the weekend and RMB 68 at weekdays. It will end on February 28.
Peonies blossom at South China Botanical Garden
Peonies are outrageously beautiful in their off-season bloom at the South China Botanical Garden. A festival celebrating the grand beauties will be held from February 18 through to March 10, and visiting the spot would be a great choice during the Spring Festival!
Geranium at Yuntai Garden
Themed with the colorful geraniums, the area of the flowers covers over 3000 square meters in the park. The entrance ticket is RMB 20 until March 31.
"Goats" at Baishuizhai Scenic Spot
On the occasion of the Year of Goat, Baishuizhai Scenic Spot is going to hold a special carnival themed on the new sign of zodiac. Kids are likely to be crazy when they get there as there will be sculptures of characters in the popular cartoon "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf". The carnival atmosphere will surround you the whole time as human size sheep dolls will be parading the spot. Just be careful not to bump yourself into them! Tourists who play the interactive games on the official Wechat account will have a chance of winning gold sheep decorations.

A carnival to celebrate the new year is kind of a ritual at Chimelong Paradise in Panyu. During these crazy parties, the whole park would be ablaze with blossoming flowers, and wherever you go you will be surrounded by the beautiful and colorful petals. Besides some exciting performances, 4D movies "Rio" (Remember those two cuties Blu and Jewel?) and a grand fireworks show are about to surprise you! Or you may travel a bit further to the Safari Park, where the triplet giant pandas and dozens of species of sheep are ready to greet the new year with you! The two parks are offering discount for tickets to families or children.
Flower expos at the parks in the city
During the Spring Festival holidays there are a lot of places for families to stroll among a sea of flowers. Flower expos, the way the locals of flower city celebrate the Chinese traditional festival by decorating different models with flowers.
Yuexiu Park will showcase a total 28 groups of lanterns, together with the riddle guessing, lantern parade, musical shows and craftwork display. From February 15 to March 14, the two places will have the annual horticultural expos – one in the Haizhu Lake Park for the floral and green landscapes, and one in Panyu district's Lotus Mountain for a marine horticultural expo.
Don’t miss the lighting performance at the Huachang Square along the Pearl River. Every night at 7:30pm during the holidays, you could view the visual performance near the Canton Tower and the new central axes. The police advise people not limit themselves into appreciating the show at Huacheng Square, as in most parts of the city near the river the scenes are clearly visible.
Spring Festival flower fairs
This year the Guangzhou Spring Festival Flower Fair is scheduled to be held from February 15 to March 5. The traditional flower markets is held from Feb 15 to Feb 17. Interested people can experience them in different districts, buying plants and lucky decorations. The activities will cover the main busy sections or cultural sights of the twelve districts, like Huacheng Square, Lizhiwan (Lychee Bay), Tianhe Sports Center, Haizhu Lake, Yuntai Garden and Yuexiu Park. Among them, Yuexiu District, Liwan District, Tianhe District and Haizhu District are the four major sections.
Children's Theme Tram
A tram inspired by the theme of children has started operating in Guangzhou on February 12, 2015. It provides a round trip from Guangzhou Tower to Wanshengwei station with 10 stops every fifty minutes.
The tram runs 15 shifts every day, and serves passengers according to the same timetable as other conventional trams.
The four-carriage themed tram is decorated with popular cartoon figures, which creates a romantic and fancy atmosphere. Radios and televisions in the carriages are all broadcasting shows favored by children.
Yuexiu Lantern Show
A big lantern show for new year is going to be held from Februrary 14 to March 20, 2015 in Yuexiu Park. There are 28 medium lanterns and other 5000 for set the atmosphere.
