An industry fair featuring electronic equipment that is opening today in Shenzhen is devoting a whole exhibition hall to showcasing robots, illustrating the rising use of robots in manufacturing and catching wide attention.
Eighteen companies and institutions, including Fujisan Engineering Co. and Hans Laser, will showcase their 50-odd robot projects in Hall 2 of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center during the three-day 2014 China Electronic Equipment Industry Exposition. It is the first time in Shenzhen that a robot exhibition of this scale has been staged, according to Huang Kaisheng, a spokesperson for Shenzhen Robotics Association.
In addition to industrial robots, robots used for recreation, services and education will also be shown, and visitors will have a chance to use the robots during the fair.
The growing demand for robots as well as an increase in robots for manufacturing and assemblage in Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta prompted the creation of the Shenzhen Robotics Association in 2009. Ninety-two robots manufacturers, users and research institutions have joined the association while industry insiders say there are around 200 companies in Shenzhen that produce industrial robots.
The association plans to conduct a survey of Shenzhen’s robotics sector next month to examine the sector’s scale, problems and solutions.
