A solo painting exhibition by Chen Yongkang is being held at the Guangzhou Museum of Art between March 20 and 29. Chen is a Lingnan school painter and now he's showing some progress he's made in his painting technique.
Cohosted by the Research Institute of Culture and History of the municipal government, the federation of local literary and art circles, Guangzhou Painting and Guangzhou Museum of Art, the exhibition is named "Die Bian", literally meaning the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly. It can be also refereed to as the improvement of someone.
That is an exact word for Chen's further exploration into his painting journey. He had been trying something new since the end of last year to create Chinese paintings on canvas and propylene, which are the basic materials for Western oil painting. The combination has a magic touch in the creations. It is the modern and the vanguard development of Chinese painting.
