SOME 92 scientific projects by college students will be auctioned in Guangzhou with the top reserve price set as high as 10 million yuan (US$1.2 million yuan).
The auction will be held Saturday with 92 works chosen from a national competition among Chinese college students.
The works are involved in the fields of agriculture, mechanics, biotechnology, environment protection, automobile, home appliances and enterprise management.
The reserve prices set by students were usually higher than the market level, said Zhang Chunsheng, one of the organizers of the competition and auction.
More than 120 enterprises visited a pre-auction display Thursday.
Even if the works were sold, the students would not become millionaires overnight as the property rights belonged to their schools, the Yangcheng Evening News reported.
However, students can win prizes ranging from several thousand to tens of thousands of yuan.
The competition, Challenge Cup --- dubbed the Science and Technology Olympics among Chinese college students --- has attracted more than 3,000 teachers and students from 375 Chinese universities.
