For the past century, there has been going the saying "Go to Guangdong Province to eat" in China. As a city "home to fish and rice" and "home to overseas Chinese" of this province, Zhongshan has taken others' merits while standing firm on its solid food traditions, which has developed it into a heaven for tourists and travelers.
Of all the 2,000 hotels and restaurants, there are Fuhua Palace, the Dining Building of Zhongshan International Hotel, Jinghua Food Street, and Zhongxiang Restaurant for Chinese food; Zhongshan International Hotel, the Rotating Dining Hall of Fuhua Hotel, and Boston Dining Hall for western food.
There are also many sea food restaurants, snake restaurants, mutton restaurants, and hot pot restaurants. If an eater is jaded with meats, there are fungus restaurants for a change.
The restaurants are well stored: Guangdong style dishes, Sichuan style dishes, Beijing style dishes, Chaozhou style dishes, Mongolian style dishes, Indian style dishes, and Japanese style dishes.
Zhongshan style dishes include Shiqi tender pigeon, Yangtse crisp grass carp, Shalang Luo lake shrimps, Xiaolan chrysanthemum fish balls, stewed eel, and baked insects, which appeal to the eaters. Of the refreshments, Shiqi Jinzha, Sanxiang Powered Fruit-Cake and Lai Powder, the Lobster Filling Dumplings in Zhongshan International Hotel, Canbao of Zhonggang Restaurant, Mala Cakes of the Guest House Dining Hall of the Municipality are always favored by guests.
