Serbian teenager Ana Ivanovic won the German Open on Sunday after beating Russian world Number four Svetlana Kuznetsova 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in the German Open final.
Ivanovic, 19, harvested victory in two hours and 15 minutes, thanks to the fact that Kuzetsova had to complete her semi-final three-set win over world No. one Justine Henin from Belgium just two hours ago.
Ivanovic collected her third career title, beating a top-10 player for the eighth time. She will climb into the top 10 for the first time in her career in the new WTA rankings to be issued on Monday.
