The health state of Argentina's 1980s soccer star Diego Maradona "continues to improve," the doctors of Buenos Aires's Los Arcos sanatorium said in a Tuesday report.
"If the improvement continues, he will receive his medical discharge. So he can follow his personal doctors treatment, outside the clinic," said the medical report given to the media Tuesday.
Maradona was visited Tuesday by two psychiatrists, doctors JoseTejada and Carlos Naseff, who treated between March 28 and April 13 at Guemes hospital and are in charge of the following treatment after his medical discharge.
The 46-year-old former World Cup winner suffered an acute-toxich epatitis due to excessive drinking and stayed for 13 days in Guemes hospital.
He demanded his medical discharge on Tuesday last week. His personal doctor Alfredo Cahe, however, disagreed with that decision, and two-and-a-half days later Maradona suffered strong stomach pains and was again hospitalized.
Cahe said: "For now it is important to control his drinking abstinence and to allow Diego to leave the hospital when the medical reports say he is well."
