Following Brazils national teams victory over Ecuador on Tuesday (Oct 10th), midfielder/striker Ronaldinho demonstrated to accept his new condition as second-choice player in the team.
"The coach has to provide opportunities to everyone. Everyone needs to be humble enough to be on standby," said the player, twice awarded with the FIFA World Player of the Year, in 2004 and 2005.
Brazil defeated the Ecuadorians 2-1 in a friendly game in Stockholm, Sweden. The first goal in the match was scored by Ecuadors striker Felix Borja in the first half. Brazilian striker Fred tied 1-1, and Milans Kaka scored another goal for Brazil.
In the second half, Brazil's head coach Dunga decided to bring Ronaldinho to the field with 30 minutes to go. The midfielder, who currently plays for Spain's Barcelona, showed he could handle it and participated in the teams second goal, as he passed the ball for Kaka to score it.
However, Ronaldinho, who is also famous for being a top scorer, missed two free kicks and failed to add another goal to his history in the national team. He has not scored for Brazil since Jun. 29, 2005, when the squad faced the Argentineans for the Confederations Cup.
"I hope to score against Switzerland," added Ronaldinho, making a reference to Brazil's next friendly match, on Nov. 15, in the Swiss city of Basel.
