China's badminton players have won four of the five titles at the sport's World Championships, which ended on Sunday in Madrid after three weeks of competition.

China's men's doubles team -- Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun -- easily defeated their English rivals -- Anthony Clark and Robert Blair --in the final 21-9 and 21-13.

In the men's singles final China's number two seed Lin Dan beat China's top seed Bao Chun-Lai in three matches of 18-21, 21-17 and 21-12.

It was Lin's first world title. He had reached the final last year, only to be defeated by Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat.

In the women's singles final, China's number three seed and defending champion Xie Xingfang beat China's top seed Zhang Ning, in a mere 34 minutes.

In Saturday's women's doubles final, Gao Ling and Huang Sui beat Zhang Yawen and Wei Yili 23-21 and 21-9, winning their third women's doubles gold.

The only medal that was not won by China was contested between two English pairs: Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms who defeated Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg 21-15 and 21-12 to win the mixed doubles title.
