STAGE Holiday delight: During the Spring Festival, the Shanghai Children's Art Theatre attached to Chinese Welfare Institute will stage 10 performances at Shanghai Lyceum Theatre.
Three different productions will be staged - "Nightingale" adapted from Hans Christian Andersen's namesake masterpiece, "Esmeralda" depicting how a willful and ugly princess regains her beauty by improving her own personality, "The Rabbit and The Gun" focusing on a once arrogant little rabbit who finally beats the wolf via the efforts of all his friends.

Musical debut: "The Phantom of the Opera" by Andrew Lloyd Webber is set to debut in Shanghai.
Since it was first staged in London, the play has been seen by 58 million people all over the world.
The grand stage sets and music have made the musical famous throughout the globe.

CONCERT
Splendid Beethoven: Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a series of concerts featuring Beethoven's masterpieces such as "Piano Concerto No 4, Egmont Incidental Music," and "Piano Concerto No 5, Emperor, Symphony No 5."
Artistic director of the orchestra Chen Zuohuang will take the baton and co-operate with pianists Konstantin Lifschitz and Homero Francesch.

Figure paintings: A show entitled "Refined Works by Contemporary Chinese Figure Painting Masters" is being held in February.
The exhibition teams up 80 pieces of elaborate figure paintings created by more than 20 contemporary Chinese figure painting masters.
These artists have gained a reputation in the art circle with their exclusive, unique styles, superb techniques and popular aesthetic values.
