Five-time champions Brazil should become the host to the 2014 World Cup, South American soccer association (CONMEBOL) chief Nicolas Leoz said in an interview published Saturday (Dec 25th).
Leoz told Paraguayan newspaper ABC that the other nine members of the CONMEBOL group would support Brazil to bid for the quadrennial soccer gala as it will be South America's turn in 2014to play host according to the rotation system of soccer's world governing body FIFA.
"FIFA has the final say. But if the South Americans were asked, there would be no opposition to Brazil's candidacy," the Paraguayan said.
Leoz, however, dismissed the possibility of a shared candidacy of Brazil and Argentina that has been suggested by the media.
