A legendary monster hog named "Hogzilla" will hit the big screen as an independent filmmaker is producing a horror movie about it, U.S. media reported Saturday.

The movie, called "The Legend of Hogzilla," has even enlisted the beast's killer, guide Chris Griffin, on the set as an adviser.

"He's our hog expert," producer Rick Trimm said of Griffin.

The super swine had roamed south Georgia, U.S., and was shot dead in 2004 at a hunting preserve.

Photos of the porker hanging from a backhoe were sent around the world, and the town of Alapaha 180 miles (290 kilometers) south of Atlanta quickly adopted Hogzilla as its own, even launching a parade in the pig's honor.

The pig's existence was confirmed in 2005 by A National Geographic team after exhumed the behemoth's remains. The team estimated it weighed around 800 pounds (363 kilograms) and was probably about 8 (2.44 meter) feet long. Local hunters said earlier the pig was 12 feet (3.66 meter) long and weighed 1,000 (454 kilograms) pounds.
