Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie gave birth to a baby girl named Shiloh Nouvel Pitt-Jolie on Saturday in the southern African country of Namibia, according to media reports Monday.
"The night of May 27, 2006 in Namibia, Africa, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed their daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. No further information is being given," Pitt's publicist Cindy Guagenti said in a statement.
Jolie and Pitt sparked an international media frenzy when they arrived in Namibia with her two adopted children to have their first child.
The actors were rumoured to have begun their relationship while filming "Mr And Mrs Smith," in which they played husband-and-wife assassins hired to kill each other.
Jolie is a frequent visitor to Africa and a goodwill ambassador for the UN high commissioner for refugees.
Jolie already has two adopted children: a son, Maddox, four, and daughter, Zahara, who is about 15 months old.
The couple remain unmarried. Jolie, daughter of actor Jon Voight, has been married to Jonny Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. Pitt was divorced from Jennifer Anniston last year.
