Tom Hanks, the two-time Oscar winner, earned himself the title of "Actor with Most Consecutive $100 Million-Grossing Movies," with seven consecutive big box-office films 1998 - 2002, Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking achievements, announced Wednesday.
Hanks started his lucrative streak with Saving Private Ryan (216.5 million U.S. dollars) in 1998 and capped it with 2002's Catch Me If You Can (164.6 million U.S. dollars).
According to Guinness World Records, Tom Hanks has appeared in 14 movies with a domestic gross of over 100 million U.S. dollars, seven of which were consecutive: Catch Me If You Can (2002), The Road to Perdition (2002), Cast Away (2000), Toy Story 2 (1999), The Green Mile (1999), You've Got Mail (1998) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). His record would have been 11, had it not been for That Thing You Do (1996), which only grossed 25,809,000 U.S. dollars.
As his latest film Da Vinci Code nears release May 19, Hanks looks to chalking up another 100 million U.S. dollars maker and start a new streak picking up from his last film, Polar Express (2004).
