Ya Yuan healthy food

Chinese cuisine has sometimes been accused of being unhealthy, in spite of its worldwide fame. Long-boiling soup is something Cantonese can be proud of. However, scientists point out that the nutrition in the soups' ingredient will be destroyed after several hours of cooking, and as a result the soup will not have much nutritional value at all.

With people paying more and more attention to health, Chinese cuisine should cope with the changing times and be as healthy as it is tasty.

It is with such an idea in mind that Ya Yuan Jian Kang Shi Jian was born. Many people think it is healthier to have vegetarian diets. Aren't meat dish as unhealthy?

Ya Yuan presents an excellent compromise, you can eat meat and still be having a healthy diet. 
 
The proprietor's health-concern was evident in the layout and the decoration of the restaurant. A comfortable and elegant surrounding was created to make customers feel carefree.      
 
Ya Yuan had four unique dishes, Xinghua Chicken, mushroom, good health soup, green rice and a unique service: food treatment consultant.

Xinghua Chicken, registered as Ya Yuan Xinghua Chicken, was a cross of  Xinghua chicken in Fengkai (instead of Kaifeng) and Huxu chicken in Longmen. We ordered a half chicken. I was astonished at how small the Ya Yuan Xinghua Chicken was. It looked like an immature bird. 
 
There were three kinds of flavor to accompany this dish, ginger, downy ginger and onion, and sauce. They were served in small, exquisite plates, pleasing both to the eye and the palate. The skin of the chicken was yellow, like a yellow-oil chicken. It was more fragrant, tenderer and smoother than other chicken dishes. Even the meat in the chest was not tough. The most wonderful bite was the little fat under the chicken skin. It was ideal for those who loved chicken's skin but were afraid of too much fat.     
 
 Healthy and moisten skin soup  There were may special soups, such as longevity soup, preserving health and adding vitality soup, nourishing soup, healthy and moisten skin soup and keep fit soup etc. We ordered a healthy and moisten skin soup and a nourishing soup. The healthy and moisten skin soup was made from a whole tortoise and water snake and was reputed to be antipyretic and be able to rid dampness.  
 
The soup was expensive because each cup of soup was made from a tortoise and a little water snake. The tastes was fresh and sweet. The nourishing soup was made with snow-clams from deep in the mountain and blackhair-mushroom. This soup was supposed to nourish you and clean you intestines and stomach at the same time. It was well cooked and the snow-clam was smooth, although it was less delicious than the healthy and moisten skin soup.   
 
A mushroom craze had risen among food lovers in recent years. Bundles of wild mushroom, a natural specialty in Yunan, were displayed in front of the gate of Ya Yuan, the mushroom ranging from goat belly mushroom, chicken leg mushroom, abalone mushroom to cow liver mushroom. These mushrooms could be cooked by simmering, frying, braising, or roasting.    

  Green Rice
The green rice looked like it had been dyed. One could smell the fragrance of the rice before tasting it. It tasted sweet, just like the wooden-bucket rice in the north, but fresher. It turned out to be made from natural sparkling green power, containing amino acid and other nutrients.  
  
  Who could resist the delicacy in a health restaurant? We ordered three kinds of mushrooms. The lotus mushroom vegetarian dish wrapped its ingredients in lotus leaf and was made by steaming with cow liver mushroom, poplar mushroom, corncob, water chestnuts, lotus seeds and wax gourd. When serving the dish, the waiter cut the wax gourd into pieces to facilitate eating. Although the mushroom was good for ones health, the cow liver mushroom and poplar mushroom tasted mildewyl. The water chestnuts tasted the best. 
 
Abalone juice simmered with Bear's paw mushroom↓ 
The abalone juice simmered with bear's paw mushroom dish looked more like an abalone than a bear's paw. The bear's paw mushroom tasted refreshing, like fresh chestnut. After it was simmered with abalone, well, ichiban! All of us knew yaozhu and egg was a homely food. Have you ever tasted steaming cow liver mushroom and eggs? The egg was very tender. But the flavor of cow liver mushroom could not be located, maybe it was entirely absorbed by the egg.


   
 
 
The differences between health food and traditional food were similar to the differences between whole milk and low-fat milk. I prefer whole milk despite the benefits of low-fat milk. I think an ordinary person, like me, doesn't have the luck to enjoy good taste and good health. I found, when settling the restaurant bill, the cost of good health was really high!
