Chaozhou porridge

CHAOZHOU people have a special love for porridge. They eat porridge at all seasons and every meal.

The porridge is very ordinary and any Chaozhou housewife can cook it. Without adding any flavouring, it only includes two materials :rice and the appropriate amount of water and keeps the freshness and natural fragrance of rice.

Another distinct characteristic of the porridge is that the rice is not totally cooked and that the porridge therefore is neither too thick nor too thin.

Taking the porridge as the main dish accompanied by some light Chaozhou home-cooking is a healthy dietary habit in the hot and humid Shenzhen.
