New dining habit promoted
Latest Updated by 2003-06-10 16:21:40

A young woman waits to be served by a waiter who is separating portions from the main dish in Zhengzhou, Henan Province Sunday.

The Zhengzhou Municipal Government has issued a regulation on promoting a new dining habit - eating from individual servings - in the city.

The regulation specifies that restaurants larger than 300 square meters and those with more than 100 tables must seperate the dishes for diners before they are served. The same practice is encouraged in all restaurants regardless of their size.

The municipal government has included the implementation of the practice as a factor in getting or renewing the sanitary license for restaurants, which is one of the required licenses for eateries and restaurants in China. Those who failed to meet the requirement will have their licenses suspended.
