Startling though it may seem, it is now time for this year's university graduates to start looking for jobs. Faced with intense competition in the job market, many of them are adopting practical attitudes.

Shanghai's Xinmin Evening News says in South China's Guangdong Province, more students are turning to privately-owned companies or rural communities for employment.

And most students are paying more attention to future career development rather than a cushy salary.

In Beijing, a report issued by Beijing Normal University shows that most graduate students are also having a tough time in the job market.

Discussing the issue, the Beijing Evening News reports many graduate students have started competing with undergraduates, with around 37 percent lowering their salary expectations.
