A French-style musical spree - French Music Festival will be due at September 13 in Guangzhou, according to the Press Conference held today (August 27th) by the French General Consulate in Guangzhou, one of the major organizer of this event.
French International Music Festival was initiated in 1982, and since then every year at June 21, thousands of music-lovers will go down to the street to celebrate this occasion, showcasing and enjoying the spell of music at that special day, and the whole country is overwhelmed by the ocean of music.
So far, this France-initiated event has spread to all over the world and almost 120 countries celebrate this festival at the same day.
The idea of organizing this event in Guangzhou, according to Raymond Rocher, the French consulate, is to bring Guangzhou into scene to share this special moment with people around the world. "Guangzhou is a very active city in many ways, also playing a vanguard role in holding open-air events of this kind," he said, "and I believe that very soon Guangzhou will have a lot of opportunities to organize different major events, so as to establish its strong image in the world as well as in the cultural field."
Raymond also reveals that the event was scheduled at June but postponed due to SARS outbreak, and the delay makes it even more anticipative.
Ray says that the advent of this festival at the eve of " France-China Cultural Year" endows the event with a more profound significance.
Raymond also thanks the related government departments of Guangzhou for their help and support to this event.
Free tickets for the evening are available at French General Consulate (Room 812, Main Tower of Guangdong International Hotel, No. 339 Huanshi Road, Guangzhou), Alliance Francaise de Canton (No.12, Beijiaochang Road, Guangzhou), La Seine(No. 33, Qingbo Road, Ershadao, Guangzhou), and Sleeping Wood Bar.
