KEI TAKASAKI, who moved from Osaka, Japan, to Shenzhen last September, says that he has found his stay here truly worthwhile.
Takasaki is currently an assistant manager of the household department in Jusco's Dragon Hill Store. In 1998 Takasaki started his career in Jusco Osaka, where he was in charge of selling lingerie.
Takasaki, who is leaving for Japan in September, said he had really learned a lot from the disparate way of management in Jusco Shenzhen.
"Things couldn't be done in Japan could be done here. In Jusco Japan, the commodity department monopolizes all the purchases, but here each department independently contacts and does transactions with the suppliers, which is more efficient," he said.
Takasaki, who has studied Chinese culture and social economy in Shanghai for four years, is accustomed to life in Shenzhen, but is still sometimes taken aback by the city's rapid development.
"Shenzhen's astonishing development in the past years is truly impressive. I live a better life here than in Japan. The only disadvantage is I don't own a car here," he said.
