A Chinese man who was wrongly jailed for 11 years for a murder that did not occur has found his first job as a marketing manager one year after being released from prison.
She Xianglin, 40, a former security guard in Central China's Hubei Province, was convicted of murdering his wife in 1994.
However, his wife Zhang Zaiyu, who actually fled to her parents' home due to poverty and disappointment with married life, came back home in Yanmenkou Township, Jingshan County in March last year.
He was soon pronounced innocent and released from prison by a local court in April last year.
The man now works as a marketing manager in Yichang, where he went to live after his release, for a beer plant based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, Beijing News reported yesterday.
He took up his post on Tuesday and on the same day managed to sell six dozen bottles of beer, the newspaper said.
He told Southern Metropolis Daily, a Guangzhou-based newspaper, that he is feeling the pressure of his first job after a prolonged absence from society.
He admitted he felt more pressure from the rapidly developing society than from his sales work.
He said he felt a little frustrated as his first client asked more about the details of his case than about the beer.
"I know they all care for me, but I don't want to forever live in the shadow of the case."
"I hope to be treated like a normal person," he was quoted as saying.
