A MILLIONAIRE was killed by his ex-wife with hallucinogen and thrown into the Pearl River, Guangzhou police said Tuesday (June 7th).

The 36-year-old Shenzhen digital technology company board chairman refused to pay his ex-wife's mortgage, who then allegedly asked her younger brother to kidnap her ex-husband and force him to drink a lethal dosage of hallucinogen. Police say they dumped the body into the Pearl River in Zhuhai on April 10.

A fisherman found the body four days later, who reported to Guangzhou police saying the unidentified man was tied up, wearing only red briefs with eyes and mouth sealed. The police also detected hallucinogen in the body's stomach. They soon confirmed the body's identity with a DNA test.

The millionaire was last seen driving a white BMW from his office April 8. The ex-wife denied being involved until her brother, driving the BMW the night after the millionaire went missing, was arrested.

"I hate my ex-husband," said the wife in the testimony.

Police say the ex-wife married the millionaire in Anhui Province in 1993. She had a miscarriage and was unable to have children after her ex-husband beat her up after losing money gambling. They adopted a daughter.

The millionaire earned his wealth making computer motherboards in Shenzhen and divorced his wife in 2003. The ex-wife was given custody of the adopted daughter and the house in Anhui Province in the divorce settlement.

However, authorities said she couldn't hold down a job and lived in poverty. She even worked as a prostitute in Hong Kong for a short time.

Then she sold her house in Anhui and bought a house on installment in Shenzhen.

She allegedly asked her ex-husband to pay house loans for her, but was refused. The brother then allegedly invited his sister's ex-husband to dinner at 6 p.m. April 8, and put two hallucinogenic pills into his drink. He allegedly took him to a hotel where the two forced the man to take more pills and found him dead later.

Guangzhou police have handed the two suspects over to Shenzhen police for further investigation.
