Some elderly patients suffering from longtime illnesses in Guangzhou can expect better medical treatment and a more upbeat and pleasant environment.
The local government has invested 18 million yuan (US$2.17 million) on a health centre located at the Guangzhou Senior Home to meet a growing demand.
The city has an estimated 900,000 elders who make up 12.5 per cent of its population.
The new facility consists of 180 beds and 10 household wards, all brightly decorated and using furniture that give the centre a feeling of home.
Experts say patients with incurable diseases will be more comfortable and receive better physical and psychological care at the site, the Information Times reports. Editor: Catherine
