Guangzhou International Light Festival kicks off on Dec. 15 and will last for a month. Visitors will not only enjoy the beauty of different smart-designed lighting devices but also have an opportunity to take part in other lighting events.

The 2012 Guangzhou International Light Festival will be held from Dec. 15, 2012 to Jan. 15, 2013. This year, the festival features a splendid opening ceremony and a series of light show activities.

After the opening ceremony on the evening of Dec.15, 2012, a series of public activities will be scheduled to take place at the Huachen Square and the area around the Haixinsha Aisan Games Park. The festival focuses on the theme of nature, city, technology and culture and presents the interaction between human and nature through various lighting devices. About 21 sets of lighting design works will be displayed, along with projections of images, light statues and interactive performances.

In addition, visitors can participate in a creative lighting competition, urban lighting design competition and festival lighting photography competition. During the festival, special celebrations will be held on Christmas as well as New Year's Day, offering a visual feast to local residents and friends from all around the world.
