Market Café is the buffet restaurant on the 22nd floor of the Guangzhou Grand Hyatt Hotel. After a two-month renovation, it formally reopens for Guangzhou's gourmands on September 6. Internationally based interior design firm Superpotato created eight open kitchens, offering an interactive experience between the chefs and their patrons.

The flavors found at Market Café are an explorative journey of taste. The wholesome style of the restaurant is simple and homelike. But the décor, trimmed with black marble counters matched with wooden tables and desks, make a perfect ensemble of sleek comfort.

Visitors will notice that there is not a complete disconnect between décor and menu. Rows of cutlery and flavoring bottles hanging on the wall signify the sorts of the cuisines found on the menu. And the atmosphere is completed with a dining area that overlooks a marvelous view of Zhujiang New Town.

Sous Chef Jaskson Qiu said, "the restaurant serves a fabulous range of buffet choices, but diners can enjoy the delicacy of la carte cuisine." Foie gras, fresh seafood and salmon as well as Beef Wellington, grilled duck, wonton noodles and egg tarts can all be found on the menu pursuing handmade traditional European dishes rather than fusion or modern dishes.

Cantonese-style grilled pork and chicken

Cantonese cuisine is a must taste menu item here. As a locally born chef, Jackson and his team have reviewed the nostalgic memories of the taste of grandmother's cooking. They recommend their hand-make noodle and traditional pork-stuffed wontons, which is rare in the buffet restaurant. To recall your memory, their mind even concentrates on the traditional wonton bowl.

Sanitation in the Market Café is required to keep in the A-level, especially on their seafood list. The choices of buffet will be quite wider and surprising on weekends, surely with a slightly higher price.
