About 500 Filipinos gather for Christmas party

Sunday was a big day for Shenzhen-based Filipinos when a grand Christmas party was held at Ming Wah International Convention Center in Shekou, assembling more than 500 Filipinos including some from Guangzhou.

Organized by Shekou Filipino Community, the party saw the appearance of the former Philippine President Fidel Ramos who participated in the joyous celebration with his countrymen abroad.

Established in 2000, the community now has about 200 members, mostly teachers and engineers who live and work in Shekou. The total number of Filipinos in Shenzhen has exceeded 600, said Benny Respecia, a leading member of the Filipino Community.
