A book entitled Record Book of World Initiators compiled by a Shenzhen resident has been published.
Author Luo Zhongyao said the Guinness Book of World Records had given him the idea to compile the book.
"But my book is different from the Guinness book. For instance, a person may be put in that book for having eaten 30 crabs. But if another person has eaten 31 crabs, he will also be put into the book. My book, however, only records those who achieve firsts. Those who pass them afterwards will not be put in my book," Luo said.
The first volume of Luo's book was published this year. It is about the "first" events from ancient times to 2000. Luo said the second volume would be published in 2006 recording events that had taken place between 2001 and 2005.
"After that, we publish one volume each year," he said.
The Record Book of World Initiators is in two categories, natural science and social sciences. The natural science section covers areas such as astronomy, agriculture, architecture, electronics and telecommunication while the social sciences section is about psychology, education, philosophy, religion and many other subjects.
Luo said he was going to set up agencies in other countries to receive applications for entry into the book. The book's editing committee would be responsible for evaluating the applications and issuing certificates, Luo said.
Luo said he was confident that his book would become best seller and would be as popular as the Guinness Book of World Records.
