The fourth Guangzhou International Guangdong Opera Festival kicked off in the Huanghuagang Theater on Sunday. The Famous artist of Guangdong opera, Hong Xian Nv, hosted the opening ceremony.

The initial play 'Shadow in the moonlight' was performed by a Guangzhou troupe from the Guangdong opera. The Festival usually attracts up to 2,000 artists and hobbyists from the mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, America and Singapore. 80% of the performers are from overseas. Through last night, 90% of the tickets for all 36 plays had already been sold. Ticket prices range between 10 yuan and 60 yuan. There will also be three free plays shown to the public.
