Sex education to be reformed
Latest Updated by 2004-09-27 10:52:07

Primary and middle schools in Guangzhou are to employ teachers specializing in sex education, the Southern Metropolitan News reported Saturday.

Guangzhou education authorities had opened training courses for three terms for the teachers from the schools, giving them a systematic knowledge of sex and the scientific ways of educating students. The training courses would be opened to all schools in the city, the report said.

The city's education bureau selected 40 schools and kindergartens for the test. Results would be released at the end of next year. If sex education is accepted by the students, parents and education circle, it would be implemented throughout the entire city, said the report.

Sex education will be conducted according the age of the students. The contents vary from kindergartens to primary schools and junior middle to senior middle schools.

The sex education would include how to use contraceptives with video film or pictures, the report said.
