Preparations have been completed for the Fifth China International Garden and Flower Exposition, which is only five days away.
To be held from Sept. 21 through March next year, the expo will feature a mayors' forum and a Shenzhen Declaration focusing on the garden city and its sustainable development. Mayors from nine cities, including Shenzhen Mayor Li Hongzhong, will deliver speeches at the forum.
A media center will be established opposite the expo in the Golden Bay Hotel for national and international news media.
A show will be staged at the expo theater every evening while occasional performances organized by exhibitors in their theme gardens.
Situated to the east of the Overseas Chinese Town, a popular tourist destination in Shenzhen, the expo garden occupies a total area of about 200,000 square meters. It is designed to contain the highest quality of landscape art from throughout the world.
The garden, together with nearby scenic spots in Overseas Chinese Town, is expected to become part of an integrated group of tourist resorts. It is expected to attract up to 10,000 visitors a day when it opens.
Organizers said the expo garden would become a permanent park with admission to cost 50 yuan.
