Library cardholders of the city can now enjoy a wider range of books as three big libraries have opened since Thursday (Aug 12).
The Shenzhen, Nanshan and Bao'an libraries are located in the Futian, Nanshan and Bao'an districts. With the new service, cardholders of the three libraries not only can enjoy the previous services they used to have with their libraries, but also can apply to loan or return books to any one of them. Only books in Chinese can be offered for the cross-library service. Readers can get the book bibliography data and loan and return information at the Web site, http://szlib.szptt.net.cn/tongjie/.
The move, based on the original library system of the country, is considered a breakthrough in sharing resources and is expected to lay a foundation for the joint library network of the entire city. Authorities aim to achieve cross-library services by issuing All-In-One cards to readers throughout the city.
