In Guangzhou and Shenzhen, many fast-food chains increase their meal price following the price hike of meat and vegetables.

According to Shenzhen Daily, source at Shenzhen's food and beverage association said the cost of agricultural produce and related products rose by 30 to 35 percent in June, compared with the same period last year.

Foreign fast-food giants like McDonald's and KFC in Shenzhen, and Starbucks in Guangzhou had raised the prices of some foods in the past months.

Many Chinese restaurant chains are following suit. Huahui, a Cantonese fast-food chain in Guangzhou, had raised its price of rice meal and steam soup last week.
