The 10 most popular Chinese cartoons among the country's youth were announced on Monday at the conclusion of the first forum on Chinese cartoons held in Qingdao, Shandong Province, on Nov. 4 and 5.

The 10 cartoons are "Century Sonny," "Tortoise Hanba's Stories," "Black Cat Detective," "Sky Eye," "Lao Mountain Taoist," "Nezha Conquers the Dragon King," "Wanderings Of Sanmao," "Zhang Ga the Soldier Boy," "The Blue Mouse and the Big-Faced Cat" and "3000 Whys of Blue Cat." They were selected on the basis of votes cast by nearly 300,000 netizens since September 21.

A total of 178 China-produced cartoons were nominated.

Experts said that among people who watch cartoons, 11 percent were below the age of 13, 59 percent between 14 and 17 and 30 percent above 18.

However, according to the research, among Chinese youngsters, only 11 percent said their favorite cartoons were home-made (including those produced in Hong Kong and Taiwan), 60 percent picked cartoons from Japan while 29 percent from the United States and Europe.
