Workers watch a giant inkstone after it was placed on the square in Dafen Village in Longgang District in Shenzhen yesterday (May 14). The 12.8-meter-long, 55-ton inkstone, believed to be the biggest inkstone in China, arrived in Shenzhen after a four-day, 2,700-kilometer journey from Yishui County in Hebei Province.
It will be displayed at Dafen during the upcoming China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair.

Inkstone, used in Chinese calligraphy and painting for grinding dry ink and mixing it with water, was considered one the "four treasures of the study" in ancient times, along with brush, ink stick and paper, and remains a symbol of traditional culture and literature.
