A piece of epitaph dated back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) found recently at an archeological excavation site on Taojin Road, Guangzhou, takes a marvelous style with characters arranged in various directions. The calligraphy was excellent, experts said. The epitaph did not betray the name of the buried as it used an alias "pen of the king" which archeologists said was meant to intimidate the ghosts. Nearly 200 pieces of relics were unearthed from 18 tombs recently at the site.
