An exhibition on "Zheng He and Maritime Asia" was launched at the Singapore National Library on Saturday (August 13th) to commemorate the 600th Anniversary of the Chinese General's epic voyages during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
Covering an area of 700 square meters, the exhibition comprises five parts: The Early Maritime Asia, The Rightful Ruler, The Imperial Fleet, The Voyages Gallery and Zheng He's Legacy.
A total of 59 sets of artifacts including 36 original ones and 23 replicas from local and overseas sources, as well as photographs and maps are on display.
Visitors can also experience maritime travel and regional trade in Asia and Africa six centuries ago in an interactive game, and see a three dimensional animation of Zheng He's treasure ships passing through Longyamen, which once stood at the east end of the Singapore Straits.
Apart from this exhibition, Singapore's Zheng He celebrations also feature a series of activities including a festive village, exhibitions, conferences, as well as a new musical "the Admiral's Odyssey".
