A book named Hundreds of Miles of Abandoned Area along the Great Wall, which examines Japanese military atrocities in China during the WWII will be published soon.
The book draws on research reports, victims testomonies, historical archives and pictures and includes a study of the area dubbed the "abandoned area" by Japanese scholars.
The so-called "abandoned area" is a 50000 square kilometer area in North China along the Great Wall.
From 1939 to 1945, Japanese troops expelled the local residents to create an "abandoned area" and secure a northeast colony.
They are also reported to have burned 17,000 villages and slaughtered about 300,000 people.
