A banknote with a face value of 6 billion yuan in circulation during the Republic of China period (1912-1949), has gone on display in Guangdong Museum.
Issued by the Xinjiang Bank, the note bears the portrait of Sun Yat-Sen, the founding father of the Republic.
Six years ago a collector from Sichuan bought the note for 6,000 yuan (US$722), but later donated it to the museum.
Experts there have confirmed its authenticity and said the note was real tender in its time when inflation was soaring and six billion yuan was worth much less than the current value.
It is the highest value banknote in China's history, reports Xinhua News Agency.
