Shiwan ceramics exhibition opens
Latest Updated by 2005-01-27 10:01:03

Two representative works are on display at the Shiwan Ceramics Exhibition in the Shenzhen Museum as of Wednesday.

The exhibition, which will run until March 6, is a showcase of 100 pieces of pottery and porcelain by nine State-level master artists such as Liu Chuan, Zhuang Jia and Mei Wending. The works on display include human figures, animals, miniature landscapes, household and garden decorations.

Shiwan in Foshan, Guangdong Province, has been known for producing ceramics since the Tang Dynasty (618-907). No glaze is applied to the face of human figures, which is a distinctive feature of Shiwan figurines.
