Shenzhen painter Wang Maofei opened his solo art exhibition in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
Sponsored by All Arts Auctioneers Ltd. (AAA) in Hong Kong, the exhibition features 33 pieces from Wang's recent Chinese figure paintings and flower and bird paintings.
Wang, 35, graduated from Yunnan Art College in Yunnan Province in 1991 and moved to the city in 1996 to become a professional painter.
Combining traditional Chinese and modernist techniques, Wang's painting style has been deeply influenced by Ren Bonian (1804-1896), leader of the Shanghai School in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
According to Chong Chi-kong, general manager of the AAA, Wang is the first painter from Shenzhen to have been invited by the AAA to hold a one-man painting exhibition in Hong Kong.
Over the past three years, the company has auctioned off more than 20 works by Wang.
The exhibition will run from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day until Friday (May 13). Free admission.
