30,000 clay figurines housed in GD museum of art |
Asian Field, the immense sculpture exhibition guided by British sculpture maestro Antony Gormley, returns to its birthplace: Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, on August 3rd.
30,000 of the 200,000 clay figurines and over 600 photographs of Asian Field taken by famous cameraman Zhang Haier become permanent collection of Guangdong Museum of Art. These collections will be exhibited in the museum from August 5th to September 3rd.
Asian Field comprises 200,000 clay figures which were made, under the guidance of Gormley, by over 300 people of all ages from Huadu District in the northeast of Guangzhou in January 2003. It first exhibited in Guangzhou and than traveled to Shanghai, Beijing and Chongqing, attracting some 100,000 audiences during the tour.
